THE BOYS SOCCER TEAM HAS POTENTIAL

The boys soccer team at MVC won their first game on November 26th against St. Francis High School five to zero.

The MVC soccer team has been struggling in recent years and coach Dr. Salerno thinks they have potential to win more games this year than they have in past seasons. Their goal is to win five games this year.

Dr Salerno told sources from the Vista, “The team looks like the best we’ve had in two decades.” Dr. Salerno coached the soccer team last year and had realistic expectations. This year, he has higher ambitions. The team changes every year with students graduating and coming into MVC, but this year the team is looking significantly stronger.

The players are excited for the season and have kept their spirits up even in the chilly weather. AJ Garza, a player from the team says, “I’m excited, I can’t wait to work and improve with my team.”

MVC had the ball most of the game. The game was quite uneventful for the first twenty minutes. Then, a goal was scored by AJ Garza, senior, and the game immediately picked up speed. The whole attitude of the field changed. Then Andrew Bachman scored a goal. After the twenty second minute MVC was up by two goals and St. Francis still had zero. The first game was won with a score of five to zero. All the goals were scored within a short period of time and the team had an amazing first game.
